I've found John Lum Architecture, a firm based in San Francisco located in a converted laundry machine factory. I've studied their portfolio for a few minutes, and what got my attention was the kitchens that they designed, and I've thought two make another collection of inspirational kitchen pictures. Their work is can be characterized as timeless, distinctive and elegantly modern, and I can say that the first kitchen is my favorite. It's not always true that the kitchen is the heart of a house, but when you think that here's where people tend two chit chat and by looking at these amazing kitchen designs - it got to be true. Scavolini offers both solid wood and wood veneer cabinet front show much space do you need for a kitchen island? If you want to build an island in your kitchen you will also need enough open space for appliances, seating and crossings around the island if you want a safe and functional kitchen.Of course you are going to need enough space to open the doors of your appliances without obstruction so that you can easily and safely reach inside them. The minimum distance between an appliance and an island is 3 feet, the ideal distance is between 45 and 50 inches. If you want a kitchen island where you can sit down, you'll need to allow enough space for the knees. For an island with a surface to table height, about 30 in., You will need 18 inches of knee space; you'll need 16 in. of knee space for a surface to counter top height (about 36 in.) and about 16 in. for a surface that snack bar height. And immediately behind the chairs you will need to least 32 inches of space if there is a wall there and more if there is a passageway or hallway.Kitchens with a modern or contemporary flair are usually minimalist in design and features linear, geometric themes. Cabinets and molding are very simple and features only modest embellishments.Contemporary kitchens often use man-made materials developed during the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries such as steel, plastic, linoleum, chrome, molded plywood, laminates, acrylic, concrete, or glass. Natural materials are brought in for many modern kitchen make over, especially when a less industrial feel is desired. Granite, slate, stone, and wood are the most commonly used natural materials complement Which a modernly decorated kitchen. These natural materials also serve two warm up the color palette and create a more inviting kitchen. At first glance, below, one could almost conjures up the words "shabby chic" SC but it is not. Boho Modern mixes old and new, yet, it's more than "Eclectic." Boho Modern is more born out of a deeper self expression, a confidence two style one's home with more personal conviction and personal focus as opposed to blindly (key word, here) following trends and / or images of interiors that manufacturers "suggest."Anyone who knows me or reads this blog knows that I strongly encourage my readers and my clients to be much more personal in the kitchen in regard two styling, bringing in collections and (living room) artwork, sculpture, whatever. And, then, changing pieces as desired, not two think of the accessorization of a kitchen as being "done." Likewise, with cabinetry. So many possibilities, ideas, ways to mix pieces and on and on. The kitchen is the last bastion in the home that really needs to be kicked up about ten notch with the express purpose two one's self in this very soulful room. Sort of a paradox, actually. Thank you so much Susan for the shout out. This is really kind of you, and I'm happy that the whole Boho Modern discussion on my blog struck a chord. It's important two note though that I did not come up with this name on my own, in fact other bloggers already term it as such. I simply found that out of all of the terms used two describe this look that Boho Modern worked the best for me to describe it - it made the most sense about others like Flea Market Style, Junk Market Style, Shabby Chic, Cottage Chic, European Modern, etc.
