Millions of football fans worldwide will be glued to their television screens on Friday when the draw for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa held in Cape Town.
The 32 nations that have qualified for the first World Cup on African soil will be both four of eight of the eight groups that played the first round will be created.
By the end of the draw of the Cape Town International Convention Center all participating nations meet their rivals in the group stage and the date and place of each match during the tournament starts on 11 June.
Danny Jordaan, chief executive of South Africa's World Cup organizing committee, revealed that the draw represents the realization of a dream to bring the tournament to the continent.
"The trophy is home - this is the end of a long dream and the beginning of a new dream," Jordaan said ahead of the draw.
"We have been dreaming that one day countries would come here and compete for this trophy on the African continent - and that dream was dismissed.
"Now as we say welcome to this trophy, we announce the death of doubt. There can no longer be any doubt."
The first pot in the draw will consist of hosts South Africa, and the seven top-ranked world teams - holders Italy, favorite Brazil, former champions Argentina, Germany and England along with Spain and the Netherlands who have yet to win the tournament.
